Dr. Alvin West is the founder of Transcend Holistic Wellness and a recognized expert at the intersection of leadership, wellness, and organizational strategy. With a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from a prestigious university, his doctoral research focused on creating and sustaining robust business and community networks—a principle he has successfully applied to educational leadership throughout his career.

Dr. West's career is defined by his diverse and impactful experience. He has served as an Administrator, a Collaborative Special Education Teacher, Mathematics Teacher, and a Gifted Specialist, giving him a deep understanding of the daily challenges and opportunities within schools. He is also a Behavioral Health Specialist, a subject matter expert on cognitive fitness, and a co-author of the chapter "Cognitive Fitness and Literacy."
This powerful combination of academic rigor and hands-on experience allows Dr. West to offer professional studies that are not just theoretical, but immediately actionable and relevant to today's educators and leaders. He is passionate about empowering school communities to reach their full potential, just as he has helped businesses achieve lasting success.
My Story
The path that led me to where I am today has been anything but linear, and that's something I've come to embrace. The tapestry of my experiences, woven from education, finance, logistics, and social service threads, has shaped me into the multifaceted professional I am today.
My journey began with a deep-seated desire to understand human behavior, leading me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Social Psychology. This foundation in understanding people and their motivations has been invaluable throughout my career, whether working directly with clients in social services, leading teams in the corporate world, or inspiring young minds in the classroom.
The classroom became my second home for many years. I discovered a passion for teaching, particularly mathematics, and found immense satisfaction in witnessing my students' 'aha' moments. The recognition as 'Teacher of the Year' was a testament to my dedication and impact on my students' lives.
But my thirst for knowledge didn't stop there. I embarked on a lifelong learning journey, earning a Doctor of Business Administration in Analytic Finance and a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance. These degrees equipped me with the financial acumen to navigate the complexities of the business world and contribute to the financial health of organizations.
Today, as the Operations Officer at Transcend Editing Solutions, I combine my passion for education with my business expertise. I lead a team of talented editors and writers, helping businesses and academics craft compelling narratives and achieve their communication goals. It's a role that allows me to continue empowering others, albeit in a different way than I did in the classroom or the social services sector.
My journey is a testament to the power of embracing diverse experiences and never ceasing to learn. It's about recognizing that every step, challenge, and success contributes to the rich tapestry of who we are. And I'm excited to continue weaving that tapestry, one thread at a time.
