Introduction

Our professional development programs are tailored specifically for Alabama's school communities. As an approved provider with the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), we deliver engaging and impactful Professional Learning Units (PLUs) designed to meet the rigorous standards of today's educational environment. Our workshops empower teachers and administrators with actionable strategies that can be implemented immediately to foster excellence in the classroom and beyond.

Our Core PLU Offerings

Strategic Leadership for School Administration

This PLU is for school principals, assistant principals, and district-level leaders. Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply strategic planning models to school management.

  • Enhance financial management and resource allocation skills.

  • Cultivate effective partnerships with community organizations and businesses.

Fostering Cognitive & Mental Wellness in the School Community

Based on the principles outlined in our co-authored chapter, "Cognitive Fitness and Literacy," this PLU provides practical, evidence-based strategies to support the mental and emotional health of both educators and students. As a Behavioral Health Specialist, Dr. West guides participants through low-cost, high-impact techniques for stress management, resilience, and emotional regulation that can be integrated into the school day.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify signs of burnout and stress in educators and students.

  • Implement mindfulness and cognitive fitness exercises in the classroom.

  • Develop strategies for building a supportive and emotionally healthy school climate.

  • Improve personal and professional resilience to thrive in challenging environments.

Collaborative Strategies for Inclusive Classrooms

This PLU is tailored for all general education and special education teachers. Drawing on Dr. West’s extensive experience as a Collaborative Special Education Teacher and Gifted Specialist, this program provides actionable strategies for differentiated instruction and meeting the needs of diverse learners. The curriculum covers best practices for creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and fostering positive, collaborative relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Master techniques for providing differentiated instruction for various learning styles.

  • Understand and effectively implement IEPs to support student success.
